Veteran Web and Video Director joins our team

Santa Monica, CA (July 1, 2009) – Baker | Brand Communications announces the addition of Tony Tharae as Design Director, Web and Video.

Tony brings extensive professional experience in all areas of the arts, including art direction, studio production, illustration, Web and multimedia design, information architecture, 2D and 3D animation and game design. Prior to joining Baker, Tony worked as an independent Web and multimedia designer and producer. His clients included Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Condé Nast, MTV, VH1, Yahoo!, Sony, independent filmmakers, musicians and other artists. With a background in studio art and mechanical engineering, Tony practices a combination of art, science and intuition — three elements at the core of Baker’s working method.

As a member of the Baker team, Tony will develop websites, videos, motion graphics and other multimedia vehicles. Completed projects include Allergan’s corporate website, DABC Television Group’s culture video, and various other specialty and investor websites for CKE Restaurants, Allergan and Cephalon.

NIRI awards top honors for Allergan and Qualcomm annual reports

Irvine, CA (June 25 , 2009) — The Orange County Chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI OC) announced the winners of its 16th Annual Investor Relations and Annual Report Competition at its Gala Harbor Cruise Awards Banquet. The award was given on The Wild Goose, John Wayne`s private yacht, managed by Hornblower Cruises and Events in Newport Beach, CA.

Conducted for the past 16 years, the competition recognizes the best annual reports of publicly traded companies in Orange County. The CFA Society of Orange County and analysts from ROTH Capital Partners judged printed submissions, and Powell Internet (PINT), a San Diego-based Internet consulting firm, judged the online annual reports.

Baker received recognition for tow reports this year. The first, Qualcomm’s 2008 annual report, garnered the Gold Award for Best Design and Best 10k-Wrap/Summary. The second, Allergan’s 2008 annual report, obtained the Silver Award for Best Strategy/Theme.

It’s an annual event to honor the annual reports that best exemplify the contribution of the investor relations profession to the communication of corporate strategies,” said Jeanie Herbert, NIRI OC Annual Report Competition Event Chair Person.
